a few hours later, when the storm had safely passed, choppy & i ventured outside to review the damage. luckily our home and barn were still standing. can't say the same for the gnome tree. gnomes don't seem to mind. but ol' black snake has moved on.

not in kansas anymore...
at around 5:30am, i awoke to a crazy storm that came out of nowhere. massive winds. massive rain. massive thunder. and this putrid green sky. i seriously thought we were goners. jason was brave and got up to investigate. while porkchop and i stayed hidden under the blanket. i did look out the window for a second and saw a witch fly by on her bike.

storm.

on july 19th, st louis lost its power. we were hit by a massive storm that came out of nowhere. it left close to 600,000 people without electricity, some for up to 10 days. the national guard was called in. most of the power-loss was due to fallen trees. here's a picture of the tree that knocked down our power line. it was uprooted. it took with it the sidewalk and demolished a brick garage. luckily, this is not our garage. and luckily we regained power after 5 days. we stayed cool as best we could. we took a trip out to the country and went canoeing. the dogs enjoyed the vacation and were very tired on the ride home.

i feel love.

st louis is finally recovering from the worst storm in our electric company's history. over 1/2 million lost power last week during the middle of a tripple-digit heat wave. even though i am still getting my house back in order after being without power for 5 days, i still managed to chill-out with a iced-goblet of sangria and watch the latest netflix arrival. i know i saw this movie as a kid, but i don't remember it at all. let me just tell you, it was an action packed, sit on the edge of your chair, tear-jerking thriller.
